    Little River
    Introduction

Little River is one of the oldest settlements along the coast, with fishermen and farmers coming to stay in the late 1600s and 1700s.

Today Little River is widely known for its deep-sea fishing, charter boats and commercial fishing. One of the sights of the day is to watch fishing and shrimp boats going out in the early morning for the day’s catch, with the sun coming up and mist rising from the calm inlet waters.

In addition, you can find everything from golf courses, restaurants, festivals, fresh seafood, casino boat, dolphin cruses, nature trails and one of the oldest moss draped live oak trees in SC.

Vereen Memorial Gardens – is located along the Intracoastal Waterway in Little River on more than 115 acres of forest and marshland. This facility includes approximately 3 miles of nature trails and boardwalks that meander through its botanical gardens and along its waterfront. A small segment of the original Kings Highway, a colonial route between Boston and Charleston, still remains at the front of the property, behind the CB Berry Community Center.

Historic Little River Waterfront – along Mineola Ave and the Intracoastal Waterway you will find restaurants, fishing charters and dolphin cruises in addition to being home of the only Casino Boat in South Carolina, the Big M Casino. Each spring Little River hosts the Blue Crab Festival. This famous two-day festival is one of the biggest in the southeast and it features arts and crafts vendors, specialty food vendors, entertainment, children’s activities, and, of course, blue crabs and other local seafood! This is a fun festival that is great for the whole family. In the fall they host the Shrimp Festival, an equally fun and entertaining event featuring their famous shrimp. Every Thursday from May to October you can buy local produce and products at the Farmers Market.
