    Introduction

    One of the oldest towns in South Carolina, Conway, located fifteen miles from the coast, has all the charm and grace of a historic Southern community. Oak tree-lined streets run through the picturesque historic district, inviting visitors to stay and learn more. The Conway Riverwalk, set along the beautiful Waccamaw River, offers visitors a tour of the downtown area that is beautiful in all four seasons.

    Take a trip to the Horry County Museum, includes a beautiful aquarium and other historically artifacts from the area – it is a perfect way to spend a day trip away from the beach. The charming downtown area is also stepped in historic architecture that houses unique shops that include boutique shops, formal wear, curtains, flowers, jewelry and even a general store. It includes a thriving art community and outdoor concerts. See a show at the Theater of the Republic on Main Street. Your choices of remarkable restaurants are plentiful. Whatever your taste you are sure to find it by visiting Carolina Provisions, the Crafty Rooster, Crooked Oak Tavern, Rivertown Bistro, Coopers Pickled Cucumber, or the Trestle Bakery and Café just to name a few. The city is home to several popular events, including the annual Riverfest along the Waccamaw and the Conway Ghost Walk. The city comes alive during the seasons with tree lightings and golf cart parades for all the holidays.

    Banks available in Conway include Anderson Brothers Bank, Coastal Carolina National Bank, Wells Fargo, and Conway National Bank.

    Medical care is readily available through the Conway Medical Center which was recognized in 2021 as #1 in the region for Medical Excellence and Patient Safety in 14 categories, including Surgical Care, Heart Attack Treatment, and Trauma Care.

    Religious services can be attended at one of the many churches representing multiple denominations. Seacoast Church, Ekklesian Christian Church, Christ the the Servant Lutheran Church, University Baptist Church, and St. James Catholic Church are just a few.

    Conway Marina and boat landing – visit the Waccamaw Outfitters for outdoor adventures. Cruise down the Waccamaw river on a guided pontoon boat or rent kayaks for a solo trip.

    Conway is also home to Coastal Carolina University. The University offers seventy-two undergraduate programs and twenty-one graduate programs.

    To make sure you do not miss anything stop by the Visitor Center which offers brochures and menus for the many businesses located in the City of Conway. Friendly and knowledgeable Ambassadors are on hand to answer questions and give directions. The Center offers guided historic tours by reservation for individuals, groups, and tour operators.
